Twyla

This is Twyla, Avery's favorite toy. Twyla is a dollar bin item from Target we found a couple of years ago. She is named after the kitty in Barbie's The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Twyla goes everywhere Avery does. She is often seen dressed up in skirts, wrapped in tiny blankets, tucked in softly beside Avery's cheek at night, and at the breakfast table. If Avery does something wrong, it was Twyla and we sometimes have had to have a good 'talkin' to' with the naughty kitten. If there is one thing we have learned from Twyla, it's that we will save a bundle this Christmas-the best gifts are found in the dollar bins at Target.

Let's Dance!

Today Avery and I were listening to some music and I caught this with my camera. It's just too funny not to post! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Big Guy!

Happy birthday to the coolest nine-year-old on the planet! Our little boy is becoming such a hard-working, responsible, strong young man. We watch our Zack with wonder and admiration as he sets out to make his dreams a reality. He makes good choices and loves his family and friends. He is such a blessing in our lives. Happy birthday, Bud. We couldn't be more proud of you!

We've landed on the moon!

Here's what just took place as Jay and I were cleaning up dinner in the kitchen:

Jeremy (to me): I heard a rumor that Lance Armstrong might come out of retirement.

Zack (from the dining room): How long has he been living on the moon, Dad?

First Day of Preschool

Well, it's official: our baby is growing up! Jay and I are so excited for Avery simply because she could not wait for today to finally arrive.

She hopped right up this morning in anticipation for her big day of preschool. She put up a bit of a fight over her skirt and socks, but Nonna made it work so she ended up happy again. They sure start young into that whole fashion vs comfort battle. We both won: she got the skirt she wanted and I got her to wear socks.

Ah, my sweet little princess. Whatever am I going to do every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 to 11:30 am? Oh yeah, whatever I want...what does that mean again?
